Team Retrospectives

At the end of each game, pull the participants together and discuss what they’ve seen and what impact the game has had on improving Soft Traits related to loyalty. Discuss some of the short paragraphs highlighting employees, calling attention to those traits you feel will be most important to your organization going forward. In your retrospective, end with prizes for the winner and the people who have had their names documented the most. Make sure the prizes have perceived value, so each time you repeat the exercise you get the level of participation you are after.

There will come a time when you will want to share with everyone that the real purpose of the activity is to have people focus on positive traits rather than negative behavior. Make sure they understand that individuals and groups gravitate toward those things that they focus on most. If they focus on negative issues, they will become more negative over time. If they focus their attention on positive issues, their behavior will start to reflect those issues they discuss and focus on most. As these Soft Traits become more ingrained, Hard Results will follow in all areas of the business and their personal lives.
